Around 150 people participated in the game which involved collecting a number of clues by tapping their NFC-enabled smart phones on NFC tags embedded in items such as a scarf, a pen drive, the police body outline and even the blood-stained murder weapon - a letter opener! They then had to accuse one of the four suspects using their NFC phone.
The Murder Mystery was devised by Proxama to illustrate how easy it is to use NFC to transfer information to mobile phone users. Some of the clues were presented as options on the phone which required participants to choose which one to receive. This meant that participants had a variety of different clues on which to base their investigations.
Neil Garner, Founder and CEO of Proxama said, “This was a really good way to showcase the ability that NFC offers companies to transfer information quickly and with minimal fuss to mobile phone user. NFC technology is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and the best way to illustrate this is to get people to experiment with it. Whilst being lots of fun, our Murder Mystery showed the business audience in attendance precisely why they should start now to understand how NFC can help their companies communicate better with their customers.”
Lucy Marks, Norfolk Network said: “I am delighted that the Norfolk Network was chosen for a world first. The Murder Mystery game went down a storm with our audience who have all gone away thinking about what NFC can do for them. It’s great for Norwich to have Proxama at the forefront of global technology and adds credibility to the city as a hub for world class digital development.”
